My love for the long glaive is a lot about the feeling but i didn't try a lot of weapons actually. What I like about the Long Glaive: Good damage and range to be able to "harass" in close combat the ennemy cavalry without risking to die. They'll all one hit kill just about anything when you're on horseback, and one hit kill a couple of things with the slice through mod. The menavlion and billhook are probably the weakest of the swing-polearms and they're still more than adequate to get the job done.Because both are generally infantry weapons, not designed for cavalry charges which a lance specifically is.
