98 posts · Joined 2005. #3 · Mar 31, 2009. My favorite 7/8 oz wad for Rem and Win hulls is theWAA12L. When their prices shot way up I switched to the CB0178. I can get the Claybusters for about $70.00. I've read a couple of posts on this forum about some MEC users having a problem with the CB0178.

Hodgdon lists separate data for the two also. If you look at the data, the Claybuster gives a lower pressure for the same amount of powder. If Hodgdon didn't specifically have Claybuster data it would be safe to use the WAA12sl data fot the CB 1100-12 per the instructions from Claybuster.The XXL Orange and the 12S0 or its CB2100-12 clone are better wads for the straight-walled Federals and imports because they have wider diameters. Of those two, the better one is the XXL Orange, which has exactly the same shot cup floor height as the CB0178-12, WAA12L and the XXL Pink. I certainly agree that Titewad is great at 7/8 oz but it's density is such that it seems like 3/4 oz is going to be difficult with the normal 7/8 oz wads (DR-XXL, CB-0178, etc.) without some sort of filler - at least that was my experience when I tried it some time ago.The CB0178-12 I use for my 3/4 oz. 12 gauge loads would be the only wad that would come anywhere near working and you'd have to add a LOT of filler to each payload to even approach a decent crimp.
