GCAC's History. The year was 1960, 13 years before the founding of the Greater Columbus Arts Council. The Columbus Symphony was only nine years old; the Ohio and Palace Theaters were still movie houses, and the Southern Theater was a venue for live performances of country music. The Columbus skyline consisted of the Leveque-Lincoln Tower.
