I was a phlebotomist at two different plasma donation centers and one blood donation center. Drinking water the day of the donation won't help much. You really need to start hydrating 2-3 days before donation so that your veins are nice and plump by the time you get there. I know this doesn't help you right now, but maybe in the future.
