All the techs at my work bitch about the Northstar, everything takes so long to do. For instance, according to the labor guide, the alternator is a 3.5 hour repair, it takes our techs 5 hours to do it. The Northstar gets a bad rap from mostly owners who neglect maintenance. Head gasket issues yes, but that was resolved for the 2003 model years and above.
