Kia stuck in park

Overheated while idling in park for 5minutes. My 2004 kia Sedona was park and idling for 5mins and all of sudden the temperature gauge just went all the way to the overheat red mark at the top of the gauge. I got out open the hood, got the water hose and sprayed water on the radiator and condensors to try to cool off the engine.
