In 2007, Mark Holley, a professor of underwater archaeology at Northwestern Michigan University, searching for shipwrecks, found something unexpected on the bed of Lake Michigan. A Stonehenge-like rock formation and a petroglyph of a mastodon were discovered. The pieces are most likely from 10,000 years ago.
